New Technology Takes Personal Self Defense to a New Level
HEBER CITY, UT (November 19, 2013) — In an effort to create an affordable, non-lethal self defense device, TigerLight is releasing a new flashlight pepper spray device that is small enough to fit in a purse, and even has the capability to send an emergency notification when activated.
The device, dubbed the Peacekeeper Mini, is a sleek, high powered flashlight with two buttons. One button activates the light, blinding potential attackers. The second activates a powerful pepper spray that can effectively neutralize an attacker without causing lasting injury or damage.
The Peacekeeper Mini will also include a bluetooth device that can be connected to a smartphone to immediately send the user’s location to a friend or family member if the pepper spray is activated.
More than 22 million women in the United States have been victims of sexual assault. Of those women, less than half carried self-defense items with them at the time of assault and of those who did, more than 90 percent were unable to use them.
“Most victims of sexual assault of violent crimes are unable to reach self-defense items or drop them when they try to use them,” Michael Teig, President and CEO of TigerLight, Inc. said. “Self-defense items tend to be stored in backpacks and purses and cannot be accessed, retained or used properly in a high-pressure situation.”
As the co-founder of TigerLight, Inc. Teig has dedicated himself to solving this problem and keeping people safe. TigerLight’s newest product, the Peacekeeper Mini, contains an ultra-concentrated pepper spray embedded into a flashlight that includes a hand strap for maximum retention during an attack.
“The Peacekeeper Mini is designed to double as a flashlight so it can always be carried and useful. When travelling on foot, the Peacekeeper Mini’s handstrap will ensure it is readily available and won’t be dropped when it’s needed most.” Teig said.
While many other self-defense items are not strong enough to incapacitate an attacker long enough for the victim to escape, the Peacekeeper Mini’s pepper spray is military grade, can be used on multiple attackers and its effects can last up to half an hour or more
“It is our goal to offer the product at a very low retail price. This will require very costly, sophisticated tooling and large scale production.” said Teig.
To keep the cost as low as possible for consumers, Teig is launching an Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund the initial costs for a large bulk order. For more information about the Peacekeeper Mini, and to learn about the Indiegogo campaign, visit http://tigerlight.net/peacekeeper.
